CAF suspends Senegal coach Pape Bouna Thiaw for five matches, fines him $100,000
Senegal head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw has been handed a five-match suspension from all official CAF competitions, along with a $100,000 fine, following disciplinary action by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
CAF stated that the decision comes after Thiaw engaged in unsporting conduct, which violated the principles of fair play and integrity, and brought the game into disrepute.
The governing body emphasised that such behaviour goes against the standards expected of coaches in African football.
The suspension is a significant blow for the Teranga Lions, who will have to navigate upcoming CAF fixtures without their head coach.
The ban could impact the team’s preparations and strategy as they aim to maintain their competitive edge in continental competitions.
