Ghana ranked lowest among African teams heading into 2026 FIFA World Cup
Ghana has been ranked as the lowest-placed African team among all the African nations qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the latest FIFA Rankings, the Black Stars are currently positioned 73rd in the world and 14th in Africa, placing them at the bottom of the African continent.
Morocco leads the African teams in 7th place globally, followed by Senegal in 14th, Egypt in 28th, Algeria in 29th, and Ivory Coast in 34th.
Other qualified African nations include DR Congo (45th), Tunisia (46th), Mali (51st), South Africa (60th), and Cape Verde (68th).
While Ghana remains one of Africa’s traditional football powerhouses, the current ranking shows a noticeable gap between the Black Stars and the top-performing African sides.
With the expanded 2026 World Cup set to feature a record number of African teams, Ghana will be under pressure to improve their form and ranking before the tournament begins.
