Award-winning Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has sparked fresh debate online after sharing a controversial take on the long-standing call for unity within the country's music and creative industry.

In a post on X on June 3, 2026, the rapper argued that unity is not the solution to the challenges facing the entertainment space, insisting that the concept is often misunderstood and misused.

"We DON'T need unity in our music/creative scene. Unity is a MYTH and a banner often waved by selfish people when they want everyone to rally behind them," he wrote.

The outspoken musician suggested that the industry would be better served by cooperation, ethical conduct, and a commitment to excellence rather than attempts to force unity among creatives.

According to him, stakeholders should focus on "a modicum of ethical behavior, quality control, ball knowledge, as well as application of best practices creatively and in business."

The post quickly attracted attention from fans, artists, and industry observers, many of whom shared differing opinions in the comment section. While some agreed with M.anifest's assertion that professionalism and competence matter more than unity, others argued that a united front remains important for the growth of Ghana's entertainment sector.

M.anifest's comments arrive at a time when conversations about collaboration, competition, and industry support continue to dominate discussions within the music space. His remarks have since become a talking point across social media, with users debating whether the industry's biggest challenge is a lack of unity or a lack of professionalism.
