Members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry came together on Wednesday to honour the memory of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo during a service of songs held in his remembrance.
The celebrated actor passed away on May 11, 2026, following a battle with kidney cancer.
As part of the funeral arrangements announced by the Ekubo family, colleagues, friends, and distinguished guests assembled at The Monarch Event Centre, all dressed in white to pay their final respects.
Several prominent actresses attended the event, including Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Chioma Akpotha, Ebele Okaro, Nancy Isime, Ruth Kadiri, and Nkechi Blessing.
Also present were celebrity couple Stan Nze and Blessing Obasi, actor Frederick Leonard, media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, singer Chike Obukam, and socialite Cubana Chief Priest, all of whom joined mourners in white attire.
The ceremony featured a strong spiritual atmosphere, with worship sessions led by gospel ministers Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, Mercy Chinwo, Nathaniel Bassey, and Kaestrings. Pastor Jerry Eze also ministered during the service.
Prior to the event, the Ekubo family released an obituary statement through the late actor’s official Instagram page, asking fans and the general public to keep his immediate family in their prayers and thoughts during this difficult period.
