A/R: Trader crushed to death by cargo truck at Kumasi Kejetia

A tragic accident at Kumasi Kejetia in the Ashanti Region has claimed the life of a middle-aged trader identified only as Maabena.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when a cargo truck with registration number GW 3783–22 reportedly lost its brakes while descending from Atwemunum towards the Kejetia market.
The out-of-control truck ran over the woman, leaving her critically injured.
She was quickly rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have since arrested the driver and impounded the truck as investigations begin to determine the exact cause of the crash.
An eyewitness who spoke to Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah praised the driver for his swift manoeuvring, saying his efforts helped prevent a larger disaster that could have claimed more lives among traders and pedestrians within the Central Business District (CBD).
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the KATH morgue for preservation and autopsy.
