His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, is set to resume his mediatory role in the longstanding Bawku conflict from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

This development follows an agreement reached with both parties involved in the crisis, signalling a renewed commitment to finding a lasting solution.

In a press release issued by the Manhyia Palace, the Asantehene called on all stakeholders to fully cooperate during the upcoming mediation process.

“Let us work together in good faith to find a lasting peace in Bawku,” the statement urged, reflecting the King’s dedication to national unity and stability.

Otumfuo’s involvement in the Bawku conflict has long been seen as a symbol of trusted and neutral leadership.

His return to the mediation table comes at a critical moment, as tensions in the area continue to threaten security and social cohesion in the Upper East Region.

The Palace emphasised the need for dialogue and mutual respect during the mediation.

Many Ghanaians and observers remain hopeful that the Asantehene’s respected stature and peace-building experience will bring meaningful progress toward ending the years-long conflict in Bawku.
