The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has paid a working visit to the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) at Teshie in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to familiarise himself with the operations, challenges, and ongoing reforms within the institution.

The visit, which formed part of the Minister’s broader agenda to strengthen the country’s military training infrastructure, saw him interact with academy leadership, instructors, and cadets.

He was received by the Commandant of the Academy, senior officers, and other top officials of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Dr. Boamah toured the academy’s facilities, including lecture halls, accommodation blocks, training grounds, and the cadet mess.

He commended the leadership of the GMA for upholding high standards of military education and discipline, while also acknowledging the vital role the institution plays in shaping the future of Ghana’s armed forces.

In his address to the cadets, Dr. Boamah emphasised the government’s continued commitment to modernising the military’s training infrastructure, enhancing welfare, and improving logistics across all service branches.

“We are committed to providing you with the tools, training, and environment necessary to excel as future leaders of our Armed Forces,” he stated.

The Defence Minister also assured the academy that issues relating to logistics, infrastructure expansion, and resource constraints would be addressed under ongoing reforms in the defence sector.
