Patrick Yaw Boamah calls for peace ahead of Easter celebrations

Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central Patrick Yaw Boamah has called for peace and unity among Christians as the nation prepares to observe the Easter festivities.
The MP made this passionate appeal during a donation ceremony to the Christian Council of Ghana, during which he presented 1,000 packs of bottled water and a substantial but undisclosed amount of money to support the council’s activities for Easter.
Mr. Boamah emphasised the significance of the season, urging Ghanaians to be reminded of the reason behind Easter.
“We must be mindful of the reason for the celebration and reenact the most significant event in the salvation history of God,” he remarked concerning the season marking what Christians view as the sacrificial death and momentous resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He further noted Easter was a time of renewal and reflection for Christians.
“It is a period when Christians also reflect on renewal following the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This renewal should characterise every aspect of our lives,” he added.
The Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rt Rev Dr Hilliard Dogbe, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the legislator and his team for the timely support.
“This act of kindness and support sends a strong message of unity and love ahead of Easter,” he said.
Also present at the event was Lt Col Justice Isaac Incoom, Secretary for Programmes at the Salvation Army Ghana, who described the donation as historic.
“To me, I think it’s historic, as far as my memory serves me. When Muslims are fasting, MPs and ministers donate to support them. But I can’t recall a similar donation during a major Christian observance like this. So I believe this is historic in itself,” he stated.
The ceremony was marked by prayers, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence during the Easter season and beyond.
