A private legal practitioner, Mawunyo Kofi Adjaho has challenged the Ghana Legal Council's (GLC) regulation requiring newly-trained lawyers to undergo a one-year pupillage inorder to become certified practitioners.   Newly-trained lawyers are required by the GLC to undergo a one-year pupillage under a lawyer with not less than seven years experience at the bar to qualify as barristers to practice.   However, according to the private legal practitioner, the GLC's requirement is unconstitutional with the 1992 constitution.   He has, therefore, filed a writ against the GLC and the Attorney General who are named as the 1st and 2nd Defendant on Monday, 3 February 2020 to challenge the one-year pupillage requirement.
