We don’t demand payments for services via phone, beware of fraudsters – ECG to customers
Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has cautioned its customers against mobile money scam, while urging them to beware of fraudsters.
These fraudsters, the ECG said, call customers in the name of the power distributing company to make payments to certain mobile money accounts to access ECG services.
In a public notice, on Thursday, 22 February 2024, ECG urged customers to report such incidents to the “security agencies or the nearest ECG office to assist ECG to track and bring these fraudsters to book”.
“Customers should please note that ECG does not demand payments for services through phone calls,” it further urged.
The power-distributing company also advised customers to “personally initiate transactions through ECG power (Mobile app) or short code *226# for all payments”.
