The Minister of Health, Mr. Kwabena Minta Akandoh, has officially opened the new headquarters of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, marking a major milestone in the Fund’s expansion and commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the country.

He was joined at the opening ceremony by the Administrator of the Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, and her management team, alongside officials from the Ministry of Health, healthcare professionals, and development partners.

In his remarks, Minister Akandoh described the new headquarters as “a foundation of hope and a symbol of Ghana’s dedication to accessible, quality healthcare for all citizens.”

“This is more than the opening of a building. It represents a renewed commitment to sustainability and to building a future where every Ghanaian can access quality healthcare with dignity and ease,” he stated.

The new facility will serve as a central hub for the Fund’s expanding nationwide initiatives — from the provision of essential medical equipment and capacity building for health professionals to financial support for patient care, research development, and data-driven health interventions.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund plays a key role in combating Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) while working to strengthen Ghana’s broader healthcare system through innovation, collaboration, and targeted health investments.

Administrator Obuobia Darko-Opoku reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to its mission, emphasising that its work goes beyond service delivery to building resilience within Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure.

“With visionary leadership and the unwavering support of our partners, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund stands ready to deliver on its mission — to heal, to serve, and to build a healthier nation, one life at a time,” she said.

The inauguration of the new headquarters is expected to enhance operational efficiency, coordination, and outreach as the Fund continues to expand its impact nationwide.
