GA/R: President Mahama nominates Ebi Bright as MCE for TMA
Currently pending approval by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), President John Mahama has nominated actress Ebi Bright as the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) in the Greater Accra Region.
The government is expected to formally present all new MCE nominees ahead of vetting and confirmation by assemblies countrywide.
The 2024 National Democratic Congress (NDC) Tema Central parliamentary candidate, Bright’s nomination is consistent with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017.
While some residents and youth groups wearing red armbands, bearing placards, and picketing the TMA premises have opposed Ebi Bright’s nomination, some supporters of hers cited her experience, visibility, and commitment to development in the area.
