Black Stars held by Wales, extend winless run to six matches
Ghana’s Black Stars remain without a win in their last six matches after drawing 1-1 with Wales in an international friendly at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Wales created the better chances early on, but goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi made two important saves to keep Ghana level before halftime.
After the break, head coach Carlos Queiroz made several substitutions, with one of them, Caleb Yirenkyi, giving Ghana the lead in the 66th minute. The midfielder scored from close range after an attacking move created by Ernest Nuamah.
The Black Stars looked set for victory, but Wales scored a late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw.
The result leaves Ghana winless in six consecutive matches as preparations continue for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Black Stars will next face Jamaica on June 10 before beginning their World Cup campaign in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia and England.
