Dec. 7 polls: John Mahama condemns NPP's voter influence tactics
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama has cautioned against distributing food to voters in polling lines and recording videos of ballots, warning that both actions violate electoral laws.
Addressing supporters in Bosome Freho as part of his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Mahama referenced an incident in Ayawaso West Wuogon where a Member of Parliament was caught on video distributing food packages to voters waiting in line.
The act has sparked widespread debate over voter influence and the integrity of the electoral process.
"The law must take its course against anyone who attempts to sway voters with gifts or compromises the secrecy of the ballot by taking pictures," Mr. Mahama asserted.
He urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant during the December 7 elections to ensure the process is free and fair, emphasizing the need for adherence to electoral regulations to safeguard democracy.
In the same address, Mr. Mahama pledged the NDC’s commitment to supporting small businesses, recognizing them as the foundation of economic growth.
"Every major company started as a small business.
Our next administration will prioritize investments in small enterprises to drive growth, create jobs, and empower local entrepreneurs," he stated.
Mr. Mahama urged voters to support the NDC, promising policies that would revitalize Ghana's economy and improve living conditions for all citizens.
