GES stops salary of Bole SHS teacher wanted over alleged misconduct with student
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended the salary of a teacher at Bole Senior High School who is being sought over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student after he reportedly failed to return to work following the incident.
The Service says the teacher's whereabouts remain unknown, prompting it to notify the Ghana Police Service to facilitate his arrest and support ongoing investigations.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, July 1, Director-General of the GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, disclosed that the teacher had already been interdicted before management decided to halt his salary after he allegedly absconded from duty.
Professor Davis said the Education Service is collaborating with the police to ensure the suspect is apprehended to face both criminal investigations and disciplinary proceedings under the Service's regulations.
He described the alleged incident as a serious breach of professional ethics and reiterated the GES's commitment to protecting students from abuse and misconduct within educational institutions.
The Director-General stressed that the Service would not hesitate to impose the maximum disciplinary sanctions permitted under its code of conduct should the allegations be established after due process.
GES has assured the public that it remains committed to maintaining safe learning environments and holding teachers accountable for any conduct that endangers the welfare of students.
